Epsilon has created a new AmigaOS 4.1 installation tutorial. It is written for OS X and is from March 2015, but is still relevant (and includes many screenshots):

I need some help. I am using FS-UAE 3.0.5 for Ubuntu. I have been trying to install OS 4.1 but haven’t had any luck. On boot I am getting cannot allocate enough memory to load kernel. I have tried every combination of memory allocation in ROM/RAM config page. I am using the A4000 OS 3.1 kernel. I have also tried the built in kernel and the a1200 kernel. Neither work. I don’t know where to go from here. Any help would be appreciated
There is a separate A4000/OS4 model in FS-UAE and FS-UAE Launcher, have you tried that? It should work out of the box without any changes to the configuration! (Except adding hard drive(s), CD and/or floppy install image of course).
