FS-UAE 1.2.1 and 1.3.x

A bugfix release (1.2.1) has been made for the stable series, fixing a crash occuring on some platforms (Mac OS X at least) when saving states with mounted directories.

Meanwhile, development continues on the development branch (1.3.x), see this thread for more information.

Highlights in the development versions are support for OpenGL shaders for fancy effects, translatability and translations (currently German, French, Italian, Polish and Serbian) and experimental JIT support for some platforms.

In other news, information about FS-UAE was added to the UAE Wikipedia entry – it wasn’t me 🙂

  1. Thank you for FS-UAE! Up until this point I had only read about Commodore’s Amiga and all the folks who still reminisce about the platform. I’ve read entire books about Commodore (“On the Edge: The Rise and Fall of Commodore”) but I was never able to experience it.

The new devel version of FS-UAE, 1.3, is quite simply awesome. I’m on Mac OS X, using the new FS-UAE launcher, with my PS3 controller playing Pirates! on an Amiga 1200. I’m loving the F12-F fullscreen option too.

Again, thanks, this project is awesome. As someone into computer and PC history, I was never able to experience Amiga. I’m about to go get Civilization too, and probably eat up an afternoon playing that on what looks and feels like an Amiga laptop 🙂

    • Thank you for the nice comment! 🙂

A little tip, Pirates! and many other games will not take advantage of the more powerful Amiga 1200, and some games may even not work properly on it, so if use use for example Amiga 500 instead, Pirates! will run just as well – but your laptop will run quieter since it is much less demanding to emulate a 7Mhz CPU (Amiga 500) than a 14Mhz CPU (Amiga 1200).

  2. I decided to have a go at some Amiga classics for the first time in years and thought to myself “I wonder if someone has taken the pain out of setting up Amiga emulators for games yet”, I google it and it turns out you have!

    Excellent work!!
