I read the guide, didn’t understand quite well, so I eventually figured it out on my own. I think that the guide lacks in clarity : it should emphasize more that you need to import Kickstart ROMS and not just put them in a folder, that you need an .adf image for a game to work (some sites deliver it, most don’t). Any way, thank you for the help !
You are right, that guide is severely out of date. It was originally written before FS-UAE Launcher existed (and you had to make config files manually). Very few people will use FS-UAE that way today. I should write a new getting-started documentation which is more focused for newcomers -and for FS-UAE Launcher…
(But you can actually just put the Kickstart ROMs in a folder without “importing” them…)
Is it possible to show all games, including those I’ve configured manually, in FS-UAE Arcade? I can’t seem to find information on this.
Thanks! Otherwise I love it. I was able to configure all of the covers and screenshots for my custom games in the Launcher, I just want them to appear in the Arcade as well.
Hi. I’m sorry. At this point, only online database games appear in the Arcade interface. I have registered an enhancement ticket here for this feature request: https://github.com/FrodeSolheim/fs-uae-arcade/issues/5
on opensuse linux 13.1 when run game, fs-uae terminated this.
sorry for my english, its not my natural language.
Hi, do you use nVidia binary driver version 340.xx?
Then it’s quite possibly a crash in the nVidia driver, please see http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?p=965560&postcount=9 for more information and a workaround/fix!
awesome work – thanx a lot for this convenient piece of software! ;D
still a question: how can i list the content of a disk? i mean all the directories and files…?
thx in advance!
Hi, you’d normally do this by running Workbench in FS-UAE, and inserting into a “floppy drive” and inspecting the floppy disk (image) using tools like you would on a real Amiga. For example you might open an AmigaDOS shell and use commands such as “cd” and “dir”, or just browse the disk contents visually in Workbench.
Installation with no problems on gentoo linux — absolutley hillarious, it even emulates the floppy loading sound..
played oil imperium until i triggered the famous 100 million dollar bug – yes!
thanks a lot!
Glad you like it, and thanks for leaving feedback 🙂
Sorry to say, but the emul is a bit useless, of still in beta… there is NO way to see my .adf images (under the Floppies folder) while running the fs-uae (via the f12 menu)
FS-UAE isn’t designed for game switching from within FS-UAE. Instead, the intention is to launch / select games from FS-UAE Launcher or FS-UAE Arcade. The use case where you use Workbench / productivity software and want to select any floppy image on demand isn’t catered for yet.
Hi! I am new here. I have read the “Getting started” topic. And have a trouble with a keyboard emulation. I am Windows 7 user. I tried to run some old Dizzy game via this emulator. But keyboard controls don’t work. I choose “Joystick” in the Launcher menu and pick “Cursor keys and Right Ctrl/Alt”. The game starts, I can enter the emulator menu and navigate it, but I can’t start the game itself and control Dizzy. Could you provide maybe correct configuration file for the windows keyboard? Or some other advice?
Hi, where does it stop for you? If the game has a cracktro, you might need to use left or right mouse button (or enter or escape) to pass it. If you get to the title screen of the game, right control should work to start the game. If not, perhaps you have Joystick/Keyboard enabled for the wrong port? (The default setup should work fine though, no need to change anything).
Is it possible to have some video tutorial about this emulator, which shows and explains everything for us newbies. I don’t even know, how to change the language to English.. 😀
Hi, I will work on improving the documentation when time allows, but I think video tutorials is not for me 🙂 -But better getting started-documentation would be nice. For language, it follows your preferred language selection in the OS, but in the development version (and the upcoming 2.4.0) you can also override the language in FS-UAE Launcher settings.
>but I think video tutorials is not for me
when I try to load the Amiga 500-game Troddlers i get instructions via the cracktro: “when the screen flashes change floppy disc and press left mouse button.
I’ve tried loading multiple floppies,
and i’ve tried ejecting the first floppy
and clicking the left mouse button only freezes the game (could bad rom, but i think there’s probably something i’m not doing completely right.
Try using only one floppy drive. In FS-UAE launcher, add both disks to the floppy swap list, but only disk 1 in the first floppy drive. Then, when the screen flashes, press F12, change from disk 1 to disk 2 in the first floppy drive, and click the left mouse button.
Yeah, I was just about to reply with trying the same method. Pressing F12
Im trying to load Alien Breed, it loads the first disk and after asks for the second. I press F12 go to drive eject disk 1 and load disk 2 in the same drive…..but disk 2 is not loading…
Please advice, tks, Alex
